Facilitation Techniques for Complex Stakeholder Groups - Kateryna Korovkina

In the age of remote collaboration, we need to be ensure we make the most of the time we have with our stakeholders. No one wants to be in yet another Teams meeting that goes nowhere. It's your responsibility to make sure you don't waste your teams time. When dealing with diverse viewpoints, complex decision making or helping to generate high quality diverse ideas, there's so much that can go wrong. How can we better prepare in order to make the most of every session and move work forward instead of creating more confusion with disorganized meetings.

When it comes to tough product decisions or alignment of diverse opinions, design thinking workshops are one of the most effective methods, especially in the era of remote. However, in practice, product teams often avoid this type of activity - because of complex group dynamics or misalignment of stakeholder expectations. In this talk we'll review typical challenges in workshop facilitation, discuss techniques to avoid pitfalls, and learn how to prepare the structure and agenda for effective co-creation. Over the course of her career she's helped companies like Aramex, Mishcon de Reya, and Roche build design expertise, streamline their product discovery process, and improve omni-channel customer experiences. Her main areas of focus are product discovery, design strategy, DesignOps, design sprints facilitation, and UX leadership. With a MA degree in Management & Entrepreneurship, she enjoys combining her knowledge of business with product design and leadership skills. Kateryna is an AIPMM Certified Product Manager and a proud member of Interaction Design Foundation and British Interactive Media Association. Outside of work hours, she enjoy doing public speaking and writing for publications like UX Collective and The Startup, as well as travelling and exploring the world of arts, music, and fashion.
